Video Editing & Color
Ah yes, “like a dream I remember from an easier time.” Here I’m in an early Avid edit bay at a cozy Venice Beach, California post house. It was that long-gone era of dial-up internet, Netscape, cel phones the size of bricks and yes, Beta SP, 3/4 inch and VHS videotape!
I had a blast back then working on projects like “100 Years of the Hollywood Western” with Jack Haley, Jr., “HBO: 20 Years of Comedy” with George Carlin and one of the very first reality shows, “Blind Date” to name a few. And then there’s all of the short form content over the years, yikes! Super-challenging and short attention span friendly, promos and commercials have always been tremendous fun for me. Whether cheeky, dramatic, slapstick or everything rolled into one, telling a story in 30 seconds or less truly is an art form unto itself. Pam Anderson, Bryant Gumble or Big Bird – if you want eyes on your content you need promos and the more the better!
Over the years the tools of the editing trade and the business itself have changed a lot, but I’ve always believed it’s the personality and life that you put into your craft that really makes it shine!
